25th ANNIVERSARY FUNDRAISER IS IN THE BOOKS!

We had a wonderful fundraising event on October 4 at the Wild Stallion Vineyards in The Woodlands, Texas. Just under one hundred people attended, partners from our supporting churches in Houston, Austin, League City, Spring, Tomball, and The Woodlands; mission team members from over the years (some from the early 2000s!); and several new friends who came simply because someone in their life talks about HOPE all the time. What a blessing to gather with so many people who love this ministry and believe in the work God is doing.

Although we didn’t quite reach our goal of $100,000, we are trusting the Lord to continue providing. If you haven’t had a chance to make your gala donation—or if you are planning a year-end gift—now is a wonderful time to do so. Our desire is to finish 2025 in the black, just as we have in every year before. You can still give by clicking on the following link: DONATE HERE, or by sending a check to:

Ron was unable to travel for the event this year, but Shelley and her oldest son, Joseph, served as MCs for the night. Joseph was a bright and joyful addition—many attending had never met him, or hadn’t seen him since he left for college fourteen years ago!

The theme of the night was Twenty-Five Years of Grace, and a special video highlighted how everything began. You can watch now on our social media platforms. It was a beautiful reminder of God’s faithfulness—how He not only sends, but equips; how He calls, but also sustains; and how, in His grace, He does far more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who gave online to support our mission. We truly cannot do this without you. Your generosity makes it possible to continue serving, loving, and bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to the people of Honduras.

OUR OSCAR GOT MARRIED!

Many of you may not know that twenty-three years ago, we welcomed two boys into our family—Oscar, who was just four years old, and Joseph, who was twelve. Their mother had passed away from cancer in Mogote, and God opened the door for us to adopt them and raise them in Tegucigalpa. Today, both of them are grown men living in Oklahoma City, OK, close to our extended family and the place we originally came from.

On October 10, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Oscar married Rachel Compton in a small, family-only ceremony that could not have been more beautiful. Rachel’s father officiated the wedding, and Joseph stood beside Oscar as his best man—just as he always has in life.

As parents, you pray for the future spouse of your children and place that hope in God’s hands. We are grateful beyond words that the Lord answered those prayers so perfectly for Oscar and for our family. It was a joyful, tender reminder of God’s faithfulness through every season.

STUDENTS CONVENTION!

Our students once again had the privilege of participating in the A.C.E. Regional Student Convention, and God’s grace was evident in every step of the journey. They had been preparing faithfully since the summer, investing countless hours of practice and dedication for this year’s event, which took place at a camp just outside Tegucigalpa from October 28 to October 31. Students from 7th through 12th grade represented Hope Academy, and their hard work bore beautiful fruit.

This year, the Lord blessed our students with an incredible number of recognitions. Convention rules allow each student to compete in up to twelve events out of a list of 148, and our students embraced the challenge with passion and commitment. As a school, Hope Academy students earned a total of 60 medals, winning first, second, and third places across a wide variety of individual and team events. We praise God for giving them the skill, strength, and confidence to use the talents He placed within them.

One of the most meaningful recognitions at the conference is the C.A.P. Award (Communication and Potential Leadership). Every student is automatically enrolled in this category, which evaluates their overall leadership, character, communication, and performance throughout the entire convention. It is essentially the MVP award of the entire event—an honor that reflects not only ability, but integrity and spiritual maturity.

This year, two of Hope Academy's students shined brightly when they won that award: Tatihana Sanchez won first place, and Kathia Cruz won third place in the C.A.P. Award. We are deeply proud of them, and even more grateful to see the Lord shaping future leaders through their experiences.

For our twelfth graders, this convention carried an extra layer of emotion. It was their final time participating, and while they were blessed by the experience, there was also sadness in realizing this chapter of their Hope Academy journey is closing. Even so, we rejoice in knowing that God is preparing them for new adventures filled with His purpose and calling.

We give all glory to God for the growth, discipline, and joy He has brought into our students’ lives through this year’s convention. Their achievements remind us that when we commit our efforts to the Lord, He is faithful to multiply them for His glory.

PLEASE PRAY FOR HONDURAS DURING ELECTION SEASON

As many of you might know, Honduras is approaching another election season this November 30th 2025. Times like these often bring uncertainty, tension, and concern for the direction of the country.

Even so, we hold tightly to the truth that God is sovereign over every nation, every ruler, and every decision. Nothing surprises Him, and nothing moves without passing through His hands first. Our hope and confidence do not rest in governments or policies, but in Him who reigns forever.

We want to ask our HOPE family—our friends, partners, and brothers and sisters in Christ—to join us in prayer during this time as we too pray for the United States.

While we may not know what the future holds, we know He is in control, and that assurance gives us peace. Thank you for standing with us in prayer for our beloved Honduras.
